Colorado Rockies start season with an impressive 10-5 record behind solid pitching by 29 year old star.
The Colorado Rockies picked up another win this Sunday over the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. After being blown out 13-0 in the first game of a Double Header on Saturday, the hometown Rockies have now won two games in a row, and have started the 2022 MLB regular season with a record of 10 wins and 5 losses.
Former Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chad Kuhl has been a clear stand out performer so far this season for the Rockies. His overall record for the 2022 season currently stands at 2-0, with 13 strikeouts along with an ERA of 1.10 after 16.1 innings pitched — all as a starter.
Kuhl’s only non-decision came against the Philadelphia Phillies on April 18th, when he exited the game after 4.1 innings due to a hip injury. The Rockies were leading 2-0 at the time, and went on to win that contest by a score of 4-1.
The Rockies will face the Phillies in a four game series this coming week at Coors Field.
Rockies Looking To Extend Win Streak To Take Over NL West Division
Despite their overall positive start to the 2022 MLB regular season, the Rockies currently find themselves in third place in the National League West division.
As of Sunday, April 24th, the division standings are as follows:
1st Place: Los Angeles Dodgers (10-4)
2nd Place: San Francisco Giants (11-5)
3rd Place: Colorado Rockies (10-5)
4th Place: San Diego Padres (10-6)
5th Place: Arizona Diamondbacks (6-9)
Colorado’s 6-4 home record is not as impressive as their division competitors, and they will be looking to improve upon that this week against Philadelphia at Coors Field.
The only other team that has a better record (as of Sunday, April 24th) is the New York Mets, who have started their season with a 12-5 mark.
Colorado Avalanche Positioning For Top Seed In NHL Stanley Cup Playoff Race
The Colorado Avalanche are going to be the #1 seed in the Western Conference despite coming off a four game losing streak (subsequent to winning nine in a row) near the end of the regular season. The NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs begin on May 2nd, meaning there are still a handful of games to be played out to determine seeding.
As far as who the Avalanche will play in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs… that would be the Dallas Stars (if the regular season were to end on Sunday, April 24th). But it could also be the Nashville Predators, the Los Angeles Kings, or even the Las Vegas Golden Knights — depending on how the last few games of the regular season shake out.
The Avalanche currently have an overall regular season point total of 116 following Sunday night’s lost opportunity against the Winnipeg Jets.
The Avalanche would have the best record and point total in the entire NHL, if it weren’t for the Florida Panthers — who amassed an unexpected 13 game winning streak leading up to Sunday’s loss versus the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Panthers will be the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Denver Broncos Look Forward To 2022 NFL Draft
Following a disappointing 7-10 record (good for last place in the AFC West, the Denver Broncos will be looking to acquire top-notch talent in this year’s NFL Draft, which is set to begin on April 28th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
However, the Broncos currently do not have a pick at all for the first round, and will select the #64 overall pick (last in the second round, acquired from the Los Angeles Rams) if nothing changes between now and Draft Day.
